We all know that clean water is vital for health in any community. In the rural parts of Zambia there is no running water. Washing is carried out in the local rivers and ponds, which may carry water-born diseases. Boreholes have been provided in two villages for community use and to ensure that children will have clean water. The borehole in the photo is next to the Play Centre in Mumbeji.
Boreholes not only provide clean water for drinking and cooking, but also for washing. This is important, especially followiing COVID. Wash stations have been provided at the play centre and local schools in Mumbeji to enable children to frequently wash their hands.
